Essential information for your Lake District adventure
For all our activities we will provide you with a good quality kit, so you can properly enjoy your adventures.
We will also bring along hot chocolate, biscuits, and a waterproof camera to capture some action shots of your adventures. At Adventure-Makers, we also offer training courses. Get in touch with us to know more.

Esk Gorge – Extreme Ghyll Scramble
What to wear for ghyll scrambling in Esk Gorge
You need to dress for a walk in the mountains.
- Trousers
- Top
- An extra layer to put on after the ghyll
- Boots/trainers – the walk to the ghyll is along a farm track
- Jacket
Be prepared for any weather – layers are ideal
To wear in the ghyll
- Underwear/swimmers
- Rash vest/t-shirt/thermal top
- Thick socks
- A pair of shorts (to wear over your wet suit)
We will provide
- Wet suit
- Cag jacket
- Boots
- Buoyancy aid
- Helmet
You will also need
- A good packed lunch
- A drink
- Spare socks
- Sunblock
- Medicines you might need during the day (asthma, EpiPen, etc.)

Rock Climbing Kit List
What to wear
- Comfortable trousers/walking trousers/leggings/shorts (preferably not jeans). You need to be able to move freely in these
- T-shirt/technical base layer
- Fleece/jumper/sweatshirt
- Trainers/walking boots to walk to the crag
We will provide
- Climbing boots for adult sizes from size 3
- Harness
- Helmet
What else to bring
- Waterproof jacket (just in case)
- An spare layer (a thin fleece is perfect)
- Thin socks to wear in your climbing shoes
- Hat
- Gloves
- Lunch/snacks
- A drink of water
- Sunblock
- Any medical supplies e.g. inhaler/EpiPen

- Helmet
- Harness
You need to wear
- Comfortable trousers/leggings/shorts – preferably not jeans. You need to be able to move freely in them
- Trainers or walking boots
